If your website isn’t accessible to people with disabilities- like users who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, or color contrast tools — you could be in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

That means:
→ Missing alt text = problem.
→ No screen reader compatibility = problem.
→ Inaccessible buttons or forms = lawsuit risk.

Over 8,000 ADA website lawsuits were filed in 2023 alone — and the targets weren’t just large companies.

Many small businesses and creators were blindsided by $5,000–$50,000 settlements.

The ADA requires businesses (including online businesses) to offer equal access to digital spaces- just like they must do for physical ones.

The WCAG 2.1 standards (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) outline what “accessible” means, including:

* Using readable fonts and color contrast

*Allowing keyboard-only navigation

*Including alt text for images

*Making forms screen reader friendly
